What is Functional Medicine?
Functional Medicine involves the many intricacies of the complex functions of the body. It delves deeper than traditional medicine in that even slight variances in a traditional blood test can indicate a problem that would otherwise go unchecked. Many of the subclinical problems lie at the high or low end of the “normal” range. Our team looks at the same information as other doctors, just in a different way. Our body is an amazing machine and even a slight malfunction can lead to a problem. The good news is that once determined and corrected, the body can get back to optimal functionality. The trick is knowing what to look for and that’s what functional medicine practitioners are trained to do. It boils down to this: the nervous system is 95% function, and less than 5% how you feel.
When patient comes into our office, believe it or not, how they feel is not our main concern. We understand that most of the are in pain. That is why they are there. With functional medicine, we are looking to find and correct the cause of the problem, so we look beyond the pain to how the body functions.
At the patient’s initial appointment, they are evaluated from head to toe by performing whole battery of test to assess the patient’s needs. Then, our team of doctors meet to discuss their case and determine what is medically necessary. The doctors come into agreement with pints on the best plan of care. Together, we guide them from where they are currently, to where they want to be. We help create a realistic plan by explaining to them what is going on in their body and the steps needed to resolve their issues, so they can get back to enjoying life.
Anytime the body has more stress than it can handle there is going to be a problem or a diseased condition following it. This because a “stressed-out” body isn’t working optimally. We utilize various technological tools including visuals, such as x-rays, so we can show the patient what is wrong and what needs to be done. It’s important to us that our patients understand as much as possible about their conditions because once they do, they follow through with out treatment plans and they get better. At Roach Family Wellness, PATIENTS GET RESULTS.
